Each summer, hundreds of young people travel from all over the country to attend Free Church Youth Camps. Where possible, FCYC provides transport for campers, allowing them to meet up and travel together to camp, and to travel home together after camp. This, however, requires the services of plenty of FCYC volunteers!
Could you be one of them?
The main connection points are in Stornoway, Ullapool, Inverness, Perth, Edinburgh and Glasgow, and campers from these places could be going to Glasgow, Inverness, Renfrew, Kincraig or Dunbar. Some journeys use a FCYC minibus, others a coach, and others public transport such as buses, trains and ferries. Each group of campers travelling must be accompanied by an adult, and drivers are needed for all of the minibus journeys.
If you are aged 18 or over, you may be able to help! To chaperone campers on their journey, you should be aged 18 or over. If you’re over 25 and have been driving for at least three years, you could think about driving a 9-seater minibus or, if you also have D1 on your driving license, you could drive a 17-seater minibus!
If you think you could help, please contact us as soon as you can. You’ll then be emailed a bit nearer the time with details of the journeys requiring chaperones and drivers to see if you might be available to help.
Finally, please spread the word!
