FCYC Celebrates its 60th Anniversary

Free Church Youth Camps (FCYC) is 60 this year and we’re going to celebrate!

Our first event will be in May when we’ll be celebrating, reminiscing and anticipating as we look back at the last 60 years and look forward to the next 60, giving thanks to God for all His blessings through camps over the years.

We’ll be launching our FCYC60 merchandise, hearing from those who have been involved in camps over the years and looking at some photos and videos of days gone by.

More details will follow so keep an eye on our website and our social media (@fcyouthcamps) over the next couple of weeks!

All of our camps this summer will be taking part in the celebrations, too, with 60th cakes to share together and a photo competition to be announced.

Throughout the year we’ll be sharing old FCYC photos on social media and our stylish FCYC60 gear will be available to purchase, so remember to “like” us on social media and keep an eye on our website for updates and details of how to join in the celebration!

FCYC Needs Your Help!

Each summer, hundreds of young people travel from all over the country to attend Free Church Youth Camps. Where possible, FCYC provides transport for campers, allowing them to meet up and travel together to camp, and to travel home together after camp. This, however, requires the services of plenty of FCYC volunteers!

Could you be one of them?

The main connection points are in Stornoway, Ullapool, Inverness, Perth, Edinburgh and Glasgow, and campers from these places could be going to Glasgow, Inverness, Renfrew, Kincraig or Dunbar. Some journeys use a FCYC minibus, others a coach, and others public transport such as buses, trains and ferries. Each group of campers travelling must be accompanied by an adult, and drivers are needed for all of the minibus journeys.

If you are aged 18 or over, you may be able to help! To chaperone campers on their journey, you should be aged 18 or over. If you’re over 25 and have been driving for at least three years, you could think about driving a 9-seater minibus or, if you also have D1 on your driving license, you could drive a 17-seater minibus!

If you think you could help, please contact us as soon as you can. You’ll then be emailed a bit nearer the time with details of the journeys requiring chaperones and drivers to see if you might be available to help.

Finally, please spread the word!

Spaces Still Available at Renfrew Seniors!

The renowned camp is back for another year, and there are still some spaces left!

Renfrew Seniors is a week-long camp for young people in S4-S6. Led by Innes Macsween, Michael and Fiona Mackenzie, the camp takes place from Saturday 25th July to Saturday 1st August at the Bible Centre in Renfrew. Activities planned for the week include trampolining, go-karting and watersports, along with other games and challenges. There will also be times for Bible study and discussion, and an opportunity for the young people to ask questions and learn more about God and His word.

Over 200 Bookings for FCYC 2020

Over 200 registration forms have already been received for FCYC 2020!

Booking opened in mid December, following the launch of the FCYC 2020 brochure, and will be open for the next few months. Young people who are registered before the allocation day – 20th January – will have the best chance of being allocated a place at their preferred camp. Bookings made after this date will be allocated a place where available, or will be added to waiting lists for camps that are full.

FCYC offer week-long Christian residential holidays for young people in P5 to S6. There are a range of camps on offer for different age groups, with different activities, such as the mixed camps in Kincraig and Renfrew with activities such as messy games, visits to Landmark or Blair Drummond Safari Park, go-karting and shopping; mixed camps in Oswestry including this year’s mega-camp, Oswestry Sixty, for young people in S4-S6; and the boys football camps in Dunbar. Campers will have the opportunity to meet new friends, catch up with old friends, take part in various games and challenges, and learn about Jesus in a fun, informal way.

More information about the various camps on offer and how to book a place can be found on the FCYC website.

Registration is Open!

Registration for Free Church Youth Camps 2020 is now open!

Along with the launch of our new website, FCYC is delighted to open the bookings for next summer’s camps. All the latest information about Camp 2020 can be found on the website. Brochures detailing which camps will be on offer next year have also been distributed to campers and churches – please get in touch if you would like to receive one.

In order to have the best chance of getting a place, registration forms should be submitted before Monday 20th January. Registration forms will still be accepted after this date, and names will be added to a waiting list if the preferred camp is full.

Registering for camp does not mean that a place at camp has been confirmed. On Monday 20th January, there will be a draw of registration forms submitted prior to that date, and places will be allocated accordingly. For camps which are oversubscribed, names will be added to a waiting list for that camp or campers will be allocated a place at their second choice of camp where possible.
