Team Leader

Sheona is from the Highlands but grew up in India and now lives in the USA with her husband Chris and her 1 year old baby! She became a Christian in her late teens through the witness of her family and other older Christians being willing to answer her questions about God, His grace, and the Bible. Sheona has continued to grow in her faith through faithful friends, family and churches who have taught and discipled her.

Sheona has attended camps as a camper and a leader from 2009 until now and her love for them grows every year. She met some of her best friends there and has learnt so much about faith and what it means to follow Jesus. She loves challenging herself with new wacky activities and is very competitive so camp really is her favourite place! She will happily welcome you to Junior Adventure this summer for the best week of the year!

Team Leader

Murdo was born and brought up on the Isle of Lewis and came to faith in his late teens. He is currently serving the Lord as the minister in Knockbain Free Church. Murdo is married to Alison, who is a nurse, and they have four boys: David, Finlay, Daniel and Matthew.

Murdo loves being a Team Leader at camp, but was always too shy to go to camp as a child, which is something he regrets. He wouldn’t want anyone to feel the same so makes sure everyone is welcome! Murdo’s favourite thing about camp is singing, speaking & sharing about our wonderful Saviour, Jesus Christ. There’s no one like Him, and we want everyone to know, love and follow Him.

Ashley lives on the Isle of Lewis and definitely runs on island time. Having studied in Glasgow before living in Africa for a brief time, she then moved back home. She is now a careers adviser based in Stornoway.

Being at the beach is Ashley’s happy place and she is thankful to live beside one. She loves going for coffee and cake and being outdoors. Although she has a terrible sense of direction, Ashley loves travelling and exploring new places during her holidays.

Having become a Christian at Oswestry senior camp as a teenager, it holds a very special place in her heart and she knows the encouragement these camps can be. She is looking forward to spending another week in Oswestry focusing on Jesus and His amazing love and singing His praise whilst surviving on very little sleep.

Originally from Stornoway, Ally studied in Glasgow and now teaches Maths & Physics in Edinburgh. He previously worked with UCCF and as a Ministry Associate at Chalmers Church. Ally loves camps because he is passionate about working with young people and seeing them grow in their knowledge of Jesus and His word.

In his spare time, Ally loves to play football & rugby, cook for friends, watch films, and keep up with pro wrestling (he knows it’s not real!). He’s been involved with FCYC for over 15 years as both a camper and a leader, and is super excited for another action-packed week in Oswestry full of gospel centred teaching.

Hannah is a Primary Teacher from the beautiful Isle of Lewis. She became a Christian during her early teens and now leads a Sunday School class in her church.

She has attended various Free Church Youth Camps since 2013, both as a camper and a leader. Growing up in a rural congregation, camps have helped her grow as a Christian, giving her a place to unpack God’s Word and provide life-long Christian friendships.

She is extremely competitive, especially when it comes to Spoons and the infamous Capture the Tattie. She is a big fan of a strong cuppa, ice cream and will find any excuse to sing songs on the Camp bus.

Irene grew up on the opposite side of the world from Scotland in New Zealand, but currently calls Edinburgh home, where she serves with Campus Outreach, a university student ministry.

She’s no stranger to youth camps, having spent many years as a camper, leader, and team leader in New Zealand (Chris Wood’s on fire). Junior Football Camp is her first experience with Christian youth camps in Scotland, and what a great experience!

This is Irene’s fifth year at JF, and she’s thrilled to step into the team leader role, working alongside an amazing team of leaders and cooks to share the love of Jesus through words and actions.

She feels incredibly grateful for the chance to share the hope of Jesus while celebrating the good gifts He’s given us, like the outdoors and football, all while having lots of fun!

When she’s not at camp, Irene loves being outdoors, snapping photos, enjoying a good coffee, and playing or watching sports.

We can’t wait to see you there for all the fun and football!

Samuel is Glasgow born and bred and, being a lifelong St Mirren supporter, is no stranger to a trip to Renfrew.  He is a Third Year Geography student at the University of Glasgow and works as the Church Administrator at Dowanvale Free Church.

Samuel feels incredibly privileged to lead at camp and tell young people all about the good news of Jesus while enjoying one of the greatest gifts God has given us – football.  Samuel grew up going to Free Church Youth Camps and can personally attest to their value in shaping young lives and teaching young people the glorious truth of Jesus Christ.  Football camp has been a massive part of his life, and he hopes to be able to share that with the campers and help them to create similar, lifelong and life-shaping memories.  He can’t wait to step into the co-team-leader role with Irene and is excited for another great year of camp with the rest of the leadership team and the wonderful cooks.

Samuel loves playing and watching football (although sometimes St Mirren and Scotland make that difficult), playing Mario Kart Wii with his flatmates, going on day trips and spending with his friends and family.

He cannot wait to see you at Renfrew for another brilliant year of Junior Football Camp!

Sean became a Christian at the age of 10 and got to love the Bible and the God who speaks to us through it. He has been learning from it ever since, and sharing its amazing story and good news about Jesus with churches and camps.

Camps have been a huge part of Sean’s life, and he loves helping teens enjoy all the fun, food, friends and faith in Jesus that make camps the amazing experience they are.

As well as camp, Sean loves exploring hills, building walls and growing tatties.

Alice grew up outside of the church but became a Christian in her late 20s, and knowing Jesus has changed her life: “Jesus surprises me daily. Sometimes it’s His grace. Sometimes it’s His anger. But the most surprising thing I’ve learnt, is how very very much He loves me.”

Alice worked across the Edinburgh Festivals in project management and logistics roles, before moving to the third sector and headed up fundraising teams in health and social care charities. When not working, you will most likely find her up a mountain, under water or round a table. She loves cooking and hosting, hillwalking with her cocker spaniel, Aggie, flat whites, wild swimming, anything olive green, and chocolate digestives for breakfast.

Alice loves camp, all the activities, friendships built, meals shared, and mischief managed. She has led at various camps over the last few years and her hope and prayer for every young person coming, is that they experience a bit of Jesus, of who He is and His great love for them.

Andy and Caireen live and work in Dundee. Andy is the minister in Charleston, and Caireen works alongside him and looks after their three wee ones.  Andy grew up in Dundee and Caireen in Inverness. They met as campers many years ago and have been part of the Oswestry Senior team as leaders for many years. They both love camp; the gospel-centred teaching and discussions, the friendships that are formed and, of course, the activities!

Andy plays guitar and is a Hibs supporter. Caireen doesn’t have a musical bone in her body, but loves a nursery rhyme, upcycling, and films with happy endings!
